Our sixth form offers opportunities for students who fulfil the academic criterion of 5 or more full course Grade B GCSEs (Grade 6 is required in English Language, English Literature and Maths to count as one of these 5 courses) subject to any individual course requirements. Please note all students require at least Grade 5 in English Language and Maths to be eligible for a place. Currently we cannot support students who need to re-take GCSEs. The maximum Year 12 cohort for September 2017 entry is 150 including a minimum planned admission number of 30 candidates from other schools.
Our Sixth Form Open Evening was held in November 2016. If you wish to have a guided tour of both Stroud High School and Marling School and discuss prospective A level subjects with current sixth form students please contact:
Julia Merrett, KS5 Administrator on 01453 847 103 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
All applications for the sixth form must be made using the Application for September 2017 Form which can be downloaded from the bottom of the page. You can also request a hard copy of the application form by contacting Julia Merrett as above.
The application form should be completed neatly in black ink and posted to:
Mr P John
Head of Sixth Form
Stroud High School
Following submission of the application form, applicants will be invited to attend an advisory discussion with a senior member of the Stroud High School leadership team to discuss subject choices, career pathway and how time at the school will prepare them for the future. Your current school will be asked for a reference. These discussions will take place on Monday 20 February and Tuesday 21 February 2017, at the end of the school day.
Applicants are then sent a conditional offer confirming subject choices at the beginning of April 2017. Applicants choose the courses they wish to study at this stage, however, any offer made is for a place at the sixth form, with allocation and enrolment on courses completed later. Final places in Year 12 are subsequently confirmed following GCSE results day in August
We will be holding our Inductions Days on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 July 2017. The focus of our first Induction Day is to allow you to get to know the school and the sixth form team and make sure you feel comfortable coming to a new learning environment. The second Induction Day is run jointly with Marling School Sixth Form. You will meet teachers from your proposed areas of study who will prepare you for the year ahead and provide advice and guidance on the transition from Year 11 to Year 12.
