Gloucestershire Young Photographer of the Year

Stroud High students have had fantastic results in the Gloucestershire Young Photographer of the Year competition

This year there were an amazing 617 entries from 29 Secondary schools. The top 111 will be exhibited in the Chapel Art Gallery in Cheltenham from Saturday 21 April.

We had over 100 entries from Stroud High School and were awarded the 'overall BEST SCHOOL' prize out of 29 schools. Abbie Wade from our sixth form did fantastically being awarded first place from all 617 entries.

These students will receive their prizes from the Mayor of Cheltenham at the opening of the exhibition at Chapel Arts on Saturday 21 April.

1st Prize

1st Prize was award to Stroud High School student Abbie Wade in Year 12. Abbie was ranked first out of 619 participants with her sleeping beauty inspired photograph.

Abby said

“I took this photo at Westonbirt, my inspiration coming from the photographer Anya Anti and Sleeping Beauty. 

However the actual process wasn’t quite as calm as the photo looks! It took a lot of lying in wet, muddy leaves and cold outfit changes, but eventually I was really pleased with the outcome. I did not expect that my photo would even get an award, so was really surprised and grateful to hear that it had.”
