Fourteen Year 9 students had a fantastic opportunity to take part in a joint science and citizenship trip to the Senedd in Cardiff on Wednesday 5 July as birthday party guests of science communication company science made simple. The girls were given a guided tour around the Welsh Assembly and found out more about the areas the assembly governs as well as differences between Welsh and English education, government, and language. They also saw some inspiring science demonstrations and fantastic videos made by scientists and school children. The highlight of the day was a private question and answer session with Julie James AM the Welsh Assembly Minister for Science and Skills. The girls came up with some excellent questions about science, being a woman in politics, and what happens if you disagree with your party and she answered them openly, honestly, and inspiringly.
