Three textiles and fashion designers, Liberty Leatherbarrow-Stokes and Erin Downey for GCSE, and Edie Bainbridge for A Level, represented Stroud High in the final of the ‘Young Fashion Designer of the Year 2107’ competition on Saturday 23 June. They arrived bright and early to set up their displays of both design and practical work at The Royal Grammar School in Worcester along with the 7 other finalists from GCSE and A2 categories. After having their static displays judged the girls were interviewed by two panels of judges, made up of a range of industry professionals, to discuss their work. The girls were also given a range of presentations by former winners currently studying fashion and textiles at university and took part in a knitting workshop. Prizes were presented at 2pm and we were thrilled when it was announced that Liberty was first runner up and Erin had received third prize for their GCSE entries. In addition to these successes Edie gained second place for her A Level work which is an incredible achievement as the standard was extremely high in both categories. The students received great prizes including textile equipment from the sponsors Morplan.
