Thursday 20 January saw a group of year 12 and 13 chemists challenge themselves to take part in the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Chemistry Olympiad.
The two hour written paper featured fiendishly tricky questions beyond the scope of the A level course, requiring students to apply their knowledge of chemical principles to totally unfamiliar scenarios. It's a real test of knowledge, lateral thinking and resilience...as well as a lot of fun! It must be, as many who took part in year 12 entered again this year, having sharpened their skills over the last year they were keen to pit their wits against the RSC's test-setters. We're sure they will have demonstrated their enhanced chemical fluency.
Well done to everyone who took part!
