Stroud High Sixth Form

Welcome to SHSF

Stroud High Sixth Form is a close-knit community of around 300 students united by a common desire to succeed both in and out of the classroom, and have a lot of fun along the way.

Our coeducational Sixth Form provides a vibrant and friendly environment. Whether you join us from SHS or from another school – SHSF offers something for everyone along with the opportunity to excel within an aspirational and inspirational learning environment.

We have a long tradition of academic excellence and are committed to providing an outstanding provision for our students. Over the last three years 80% of our students achieved A Level grades A*-B with 51% achieving A*/A. We are currently ranked the 3rd highest performing state school in the South West by the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide and the 34th highest performing state school nationally.

You will be able to choose your own post-16 pathway from our suite of 26 A Level subjects alongside one of our Additional Qualifications: EPQ, Core Maths, Gold Arts Award, Gold Crest Award or SHS-Sport, Coaching & Leadership. A number of students opt to study four A Levels, for example with the addition of Further Maths.

Our teaching staff deliver lessons that are challenging and centred on the development of independent study and creative thinking – all designed to stretch you to enable you to reach your full potential. We aim to provide you with as broad an experience as possible during your time with us and your A Level studies. This combined with our extensive programme of extracurricular and supercurricular opportunities will help prepare you for the next stage of your journey.

Scholarship is at the heart of our students’ studies. Teaching staff will encourage you to explore their subjects in more detail through the means of further reading, podcasts, documentaries, and a whole lot more.

We believe that it is our strong sense of community combined with academic excellence and provision of extracurricular opportunities that makes SHSF such an outstanding place to study.

We don’t have a one size fits all approach at SHSF – whatever your plans for the future, we will help you get there.

Our students’ embark up a wide range of post-18 pathways after their time with us. They go on to access the full range of university degrees and apprenticeships including Oxbridge, Medical School, Art College, the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, USA universities, GE Aviation, Veterinary School, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Renishaws, Conservatoires and Performing Arts Colleges and Rolls-Royce.

Our students are at the heart of what we do at SHSF.

You will receive exceptional support from an experienced team of teachers and tutors as well as our dedicated sixth form academic study and pastoral support team.
