At SHSF, we are proud of our extensive extracurricular and supercurricular programme of activities. These activities play a central role in the SHSF experience and are designed so you can pursue your talents and interests, acquire new skills, meet new people and enhance your learning.

We have always had strong international links and value broadening your horizons through many varied and exciting trips and visits. The focus of many of these opportunities is to make new connections, learn about new cultures or global issues and immerse yourself in adventures that will help you to understand more about the world around you. Our community is outward-looking and progressive. If you are keen to be involved in exploration and discovery, then Stroud High is the place for you...

A few examples of what you can get involved in:

  • South Korea Exchange – Find out more about this culturally diverse country by taking part in this amazing exchange where you will visit the province of Paju and our partnership school Hanbit High School, staying with a host family
  • Thailand Exchange – Visit the North-Eastern province of Maha Sarakham where you meet students from our partner school Mahasarakham University Secondary School, staying with a host family  
  • Language Exchanges – Become fully conversant in French, German and/or Spanish by taking part in our language exchanges where you will take part in a homestay with a host family linked to one of our partner schools Krakow – Travel to Poland and explore the amazing history
  • Krakow has to offer with a guided visit to Auschwitz-Birkena and the Wieliczka and Bochnia Royal Salt Mines (both World Heritage sites), as well as a tour of the Schindler Museum
  • Music Tour – Our music tours are open to all students who take part in our extracurricular music activities as well as A Level Music students. The most recent tour was a residential trip to Amsterdam with performances by our students
  • Art Visits – We run residential overseas trips which in the past have included visits to New York and Barcelona. We recently took our students on a cultural tour of Paris 

At Stroud High we value making a difference to those in the local community and giving back to others. To this end, we have set aside Wednesday afternoons to enable students to carry out volunteering activities with local organisations or at Stroud High. In addition to volunteering at care homes and charity shops, or mentoring primary school pupils and students at local 11-16 schools, our sixth formers also have various leadership roles and regularly organise events in school to raise funds for local charities.

Here are a few things that our students have been involved in:

  • Mentoring students in Years 9-11 at local 11-16 schools
  • Mentoring pupils aged 5-11 at local primary schools
  • Mentoring students in Years 7-11 at Stroud High
  • Volunteering in care and nursing homes Volunteering at local charity shops
  • Volunteering with Read With Me
  • Volunteering with Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home
  • Volunteering to be Form, RAG, Media, Diversity or Wellbeing Rep, Student Council leader, International Ambassador or Learning Leader within school
  • Leading societies such as Amnesty, Eco Council and Fairtrade within school
  • Helping with Brownies or Cadets
  • Organising events and raising funds and awareness within school for local and national charities. These have included:
Stroud Food Bank, Stroud Women's Refuge, Bullies Out, Children in Need, Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, World Mental Health Day, Comic Relief, Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal, Just One Tree
