Fantastic A Level Results for a Truly Special Year Group

Students at Stroud High School are celebrating a stunning set of A Level results, with 17% of grades awarded at A*, 49% at A*-A, 78% at A*-B, and 44% of students achieving AAB or better.
But, as ever, the results only tell part of the story.
This has been a truly special year group. Alongside achieving outstanding academic outcomes, they have embraced every aspect of school life. They completed Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards in record numbers, lit up the stage in this year's production of Come From Away, raised more than £13,000 for Stroud Women's Refuge through RAG Week, performed in music concerts in Liverpool and Bruges, presented at education conferences in South Korea, competed in regional debating and national translation competitions in modern foreign languages, completed Gold CREST environmental projects, supported over 100 primary school lessons through the year, excelled in STEM olympiads, and helped lead the rich programme of house events that sits at the heart of the school community.
Headteacher Mark McShane said:
"I'm absolutely thrilled for the students who received their results this morning. They have worked so hard, but what makes this year group so memorable goes far beyond the grades they achieved.
They have excelled across all areas of curriculum and completed their qualifications to the highest standards, whilst somehow finding the time and energy to throw themselves into everything else that makes school life special. Quite remarkable.
More importantly, they have defined what it means to be a student at Stroud High School. They are kind, ambitious, inclusive and relentlessly positive young people and I have no doubt they have made our school a better place simply by being part of it.
They are genuinely a super-special year group, and we will miss them enormously.
I'd also like to pay tribute to the entire staff team at Stroud High School. These outcomes are the result of a huge collective effort. Year after year, our staff show what is possible when relationships sit at the heart of a school community. The care, encouragement, expertise and belief they invest in young people every day never ceases to amaze me. They are a fabulous team.”
