SHS 'went big' to celebrate the European Day of Languages 2024.
'Where languages have taken me' was our starting point with Year 9 - a series of slide presentations from former SHS students & from our very own Francophile Ms Forino, all of whom were super-positive about their experiences of language study and of living abroad in Austria, Spain, South America, France and Germany. And beyond the fun of life abroad, the guests explained how learning another language had allowed them to genuinely connect with people, when living abroad.
SHS students then enjoyed an all-day whirlwind carousel of foreign language activities including acting, poetry and song, festivals and traditions, quizzes and of course 'dance with Louis' - salsa, waltz and more with the French speaking Cameroonian dance teacher Louis Roger.
All year groups entered the European themed cake decorating competition. Students across the school ran a charity European cake sale to raise funds for Stroud Women's Refuge.
