SHS Future Engineers visit House of Lords

22 November 2023

Yesterday students from Stroud High School and Sixth Form visited the House of Lords, Westminster, to attend a formal lunch and talk on 'Engineering for Clean Water'.

The 'Engineering for Clean Water' event was not only informative but also inspiring, promoting valuable insights into careers in engineering. The opportunity for our students to engage in conversations about engineering, especially with industry leaders and peers from other schools, was invaluable.

The event not only broadened our students' perspectives on the diverse facets of engineering but also emphasised the crucial role it plays in addressing global challenges, such as ensuring access to clean water. Seeing the students immersed in this environment, exchanging ideas and experiences, showcased the positive impact such experiences can have on their understanding of potential career paths.

The House of Lords setting added an extra layer of significance to the occasion, creating lasting memories for both the students and myself. We were also able to meet with our local MP, Siobhan Baillie, to share our thoughts on the event. I believe that experiences like these are instrumental in shaping the aspirations and career choices of our students, and I am grateful to have been a part of this educational journey with them.
