Stroud High School Celebrates Historic GCSE Results

21 August 2025

It has been an incredibly exciting morning at Stroud High School as students collected their GCSE results – and they had every reason to celebrate.

Students opened envelopes to reveal record-breaking grades for the school on Beards Lane. An impressive 78% of all grades were at 7–9, with over half at 8–9 and a remarkable 30% at grade 9. These are the highest levels of performance in each measure since the reformed GCSEs were introduced. What is particularly rewarding is how many students excelled across the full curriculum: more than half of the 160-strong year group achieved a complete set of grades at 7–9. A stunning achievement.

Headteacher Mark McShane said “I’m absolutely thrilled for every single student this morning. GCSEs are such a big challenge for young people, and the achievement of performing so strongly across all subjects can sometimes be overlooked. Our students have worked incredibly hard and have been brilliantly supported by our whole team of staff. I couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved– not just for what they’ve achieved academically, but also for the way they’ve created such a fantastic community and positive environment here at Stroud High.”
