Ten Tors 2024: Everything Is Possible

14 May 2024

This weekend saw a small but dedicated team of sixth formers take on the much revered Ten Tors Challenge - The first students to do so in Stroud High School's history!

Organised by the British Army, the challenge, which has evolved since the 1960s, covers varying routes of 35, 45 or 55 miles where teams of six encounter some of the toughest terrain and highest peaks in Southern England. Entirely self-sufficient during their arduous expedition, they rely on their traditional map, compass navigational skills, and must carry all their food, water, bedding, tents, and other essentials on their backs.

We are incredibly proud of the way in which the Stroud High team presented themselves as a unit, from campsite technician and tracker analyst, to walkers out on the hill. Each knew how important their role was to make the attempt at completing the 45 miles in exceptional weather conditions successful. We have nothing but deep admiration for the way they worked throughout the training season, and how they demonstrated that Everything is Possible.
